Install TWRP on Galaxy Note 10 (non-US Snapdragon)
Like last year, the Snapdragon variants of the flagship Galaxy Note product have only been released in the United States, Hong Kong and China. Unlike Exynos variants sold worldwide, most variants of Snapdragon can not be unlocked because they are sold in the United States. This leaves only a limited number of Snapdragon variants that can actually be unlocked. As a result, the development of Snapdragon variants is generally much slower than the available and unlockable Exynos variants.
Warning
The method described below only applies to the non-US Snapdragon variant of the Galaxy Note 10. It will trigger Knox and will also void your warranty. If you trigger the KNOX counter, you will also lose features such as Samsung Pay and Secure folders as well as the ability to use certain banking applications. There are solutions to run Android Pay on rooted devices, of course, but we will not discuss it here. Once Knox is triggered, the effects are permanent and there is no need to re-lock the bootloader or flash the recovery of the stock. In addition, OTA updates will also stop working. Be sure to back up everything important, even the files in the internal memory.
Do not try this with any of the Exynos variants, unless you really want to risk losing it. Changing your device is always risky, even if you have the non-US Snapdragon variants on which this method works. No one can guarantee that you will follow the instructions to the letter or that things will always go as planned, even if you do. You must take responsibility for the risk you take. DroidViews can not be held responsible for damage to your device.
In short, before rooting your Galaxy Note 10 using the following method, do not forget that …
- You must unlock your boot loader before following the instructions.
- Unlocking the boot loader requires a complete erasure of the data.
- TwRP recovery flashing on the Galaxy Note 10 WILL KNOX trip.
- OTA updates will not work after this.
- Make a backup of all your important data.
- The TWRP recovery available in this article only applies to Snapdragon variants not sold in the United States.
Also, remember that once you have unlocked the boot loader of your Galaxy Note 10, you receive a boot loader unlock warning every time you restart your phone.
